Lecture 1: Physiology of Fat Loss (90 minutes) – By Lyndon Purcell
This presentation will cover the fundamental aspects of fat loss and how they can be augmented from a nutritional perspective. By understanding the underlying physiology that allows fat cells function, the nuances of energy balance, the role of various hormones in weight regulation and the implications how the human body responds to changes in stimuli, we are better informed on knowing how to induce the desired adaptation. When we have an understanding of the stimuli and signals we are utilizing, we can direct our attention to nutrition and training to ensure that we are maximizing its role in how effective our entire intervention is.
Lecture 2: Nutrition Strategies for Fat Loss – By Martin Refalo
This presentation will cover nutrition strategies and diet periodisation to accelerate fat loss, in a sustainable manner. Whilst traditional nutrition practices incorporate continuous caloric restriction, they have often left many athletes and individuals frustrated once the dieting phase is over, if they make it. In this lecture, you will learn how to strategically plan dieting phases over various time scales and include advanced methods such as refeeds, diet breaks, maintenance periods as well as how to make necessary adjustments during extended fat loss diets to maximise results.
Lecture 3: Optimising Resistance Training and Cardio (90 minutes) – By Jacob Schepis
This presentation will provide the foundation for hypertrophy program training design and how fat loss diets affect the training strategy. The training principles are the guiding concepts that must be satisfied by all well-constructed programs, no matter how varied differing methodologies may be. The training principles are the first step in the process of taking a theoretical understanding of muscle physiology before determining how we apply the training variables such as volume, frequency, intensity and exercise selection. This lecture will start with a recap on the processes by which muscle tissue is grown/retained, and then move into a discussion on how we can pragmatically design a program to stimulate maximal muscle growth or retention during fat loss diets as well as incorporate cardio regimes without negative outcomes and trade-offs.
