Lifting for Life: A Guide To Achieving Health & Longevity For Iron-Lovers
There’s an awful lot to think about when it comes to training: Volume; Intensity; Training Frequency; Exercise Selection; Rest Periods; Rest Days; When do I Deload? In fact, what even is a deload?
The list goes on and on.
Already, we can see there’s plenty to juggle in the realm of training alone. Sprinkle in some other variables, however, such as nutrition, stress, the role of sleep or alcohol, and it’s no wonder that people fail to know which way to look and what variables to prioritise. Time and time again we see hard-working individuals continue to run into dead ends with their training, be it through injury, pain or simply a stall in progress, due to focusing on the wrong factors.
Because of the complexity of trying to influence the inner workings of a biological organism, it is common for coaches and trainers alike to simplify training down to its bare-bones. This results in approaches where Volume, Intensity and Frequency become the only things that matter. This simplification suggests that training exists in its own special bubble, unaffected by everything else going on in our lives.
As we highlight in this book, this is hardly the case. We are complex beings, existing in complex systems and we have many, many moving parts. To improve training outcomes, we sometimes have to look beyond training to see how it fits in with the rest of this system we call “Life.”
This book will show you how to do that.
